Tali Beach Birthday Weekend

It was my team's most awaited team building at Tali Beach the same weekend of my birthday. It took some time to plan but finally we were off to the best weekend as a group.

We all met near the office (RCBC Plaza can be seen in the background) and went on convoy in 5 cars. But  just because it was a team building and we were all going as friends didn't mean we could ride with our barkadas. Our boss made sure we got that team building spirit from the beginning by randomly grouping us into cars, with some members being the assigned drivers and navigators. Thank goodness for Waze!

We stopped by a McDonald's somewhere (I forgot where) and got breakfast to go. After that we were off to Tali again I think it was everyone's first time going there so a group who thought the convoy was too slow went ahead and got lost. And when I say lost, I mean they even reached a place that no longer had paved roads! It was indeed the road less traveled, they said. Haha.

It took us probably 3-4 hours to get to Tali, which is a private subdivision, and entering took a long time due to security protocol (they had to confirm names of all the people entering, which house we were staying at, checked with the caretaker that we were legit, etc). You'd think that we would get to the house in no time after being allowed to enter the village, but NO. We all got lost and were merely going in circles around Tali. So long story short, according to the caretaker, the house can be found on Soap Road. Waze couldn't find it. We all couldn't find it. Several calls were exchanged, every team/car was calling each other for directions. And then someone called our team/car and said the house was actually on SURF ROAD, not SOAP ROAD! Soap nga naman yung Surf diba? :p

The house was HUGE! We were a total of 25 and there was still so much room for more people. We found this place for rent on OLX for 28k per night. I guess a majority of the houses here in Tali are signed up for rentals/air bnb since these are all vacation houses anyway. It was also a bonus that my manager loved to cook and prepared all our meals for the entire weekend. It can't get more awesome than that.

So mostly, we just got to chill, mingle, eat and swim. After dinner is when the games started. The games were patterned after Minute To Win It and it was both challenging and exciting to work with our teams just to accomplish all the tasks within a minute. Here are some photos from the games:

The next day, we decided to hit the beach after breakfast. The cliff-diving area was a 10-minute drive from the house and so we had to bring the cars since it would be a long, torturous (is that even a word?) and slopey walk otherwise. I didn't cliff dive because it would just be too tragic to perish on my birthday. I was content just taking photos and filming those who decided to dive.

After everyone was tired of cliff-jumping and checking out the nearby beach, we all decided to head back to the house. The only dilemma was we were all dripping wet and didn't want to ruin our teammates' car upholstery. It was only my boss' car that had leather seats and so we had to fit what could humanly fit. There were, I think, 6 people inside the car plus myself, TLA and Coach Jeromey in the back compartment. The Elantra is an amazing car, by the way. Also, since it was my birthday, I asked my boss to go faster to which he obliged, and I felt like were in Fast and the Furious, only we were literally outside the vehicle, screaming and eating dust. #teamwasiwas

It was the most fun I've had in a team building and it was definitely a different kind of birthday for me. :)
