Up, up and away! (a Boracay parasailing experience)

Our original Sagada-Banaue-Batad trip suddenly turned into another beach getaway due to the rainy weather forecast in the Mountain Province.
Since we did not want to risk traveling by bus through the Sagada roads in inclement weather, we had to have a Plan B. And thanks to a promo fare via Philippine Airlines, it was Boracay all over again. :)

My brother and cousin went to Boracay a week before me and the most notable thing I remember them recommending was the water activities by Stingray Watersports. It was my third time in Boracay but I have never tried any of the water activities except for island hopping during my first visit. All my previous Boracay visits were mainly spent to chill, eat, and chill some more. I was able to contact Stingray Watersports and I was able to book a parasailing activity for (2) in the afternoon. They were trying to offer me a package that included Parasailing, Helmet Diving and Jetski but we didn't really want to helmet dive and we didn't really know how to work the jetski so we only paid Php1,200 each to parasail. And boy was it an awesome experience!

We met Ate Bebelyn of Stingray Watersports in front of Budget Mart near E-Mall where we waited for their service to bring us to the back beach where all the water activities take place. When we got there, we were asked to register at their booth and pay the fee. We were then ushered to a small speedboat which took us to the Stingray Watersports raft in the middle of the ocean. This is where all their jetskis were docked and the pick-up point for the people who were parasailing. Another bigger speedboat came about and we were asked to board. I like how efficient their staff were and how they assisted us all the way. It didn't even take them 5 minutes to get us all harnessed and hooked to the parachute. All I can remember is that Kuya said, "Okay ma'am,  upo lang po tayo dito. Relax lang po.." and the next thing I know we were off the boat and carried away by this huge, red parachute.

To be honest, I don't even remember how I was strapped to the parachute because as they were doing it, I was busy testing my action cam to make sure the video was on. I mean, it would've been a bummer if the video was off the whole time, right? Anyway, it was only around 30-50 meters in the air when I realized that the boat we were strapped to was getting smaller and smaller. What if something happened and I needed to call Kuya's attention? Will I be able to scream loud enough for them to hear? Will exaggerated waving get the message across?  I calmed down a bit after realizing the harnesses were locked in placed and everything looked safe. The view was amazing up there! I don't even know the names of the nearby islands but the view was just breath-taking. The pictures will never do it any justice. It was 15-minutes of exhilaration seeing the beauty of nature from a bird's eye view.

So, the next time you're in Boracay and you have extra cash and up for something new, I would hands-down recommend parasailing. Try Stingray Watersports as well because they have the newest boats and equipment.
